Vegetable-based Inks

We don't use pure oil inks! Litho Inks are often called "Vegetable based" but actually they contain a combination of vegetable oil, mineral oil and pigments and are Vegan.

Carbon Capture

The Carbon Capture programe we use mitigates the CO2 emissions and directly support the
work of the Woodland Trust – 100% of the money raised through Carbon Capture goes directly to the Woodland Trust to plant native woodland in the UK.

Paper Certifications

Whether the job carries the logo or not, everything we print is printed on FSC ® or PEFC ® certified paper including our recycled paper. We are accredited for both and our license code can be found in the logos on our homepage.

Waste

We work hard to keep waste as low as possible but all the paper waste we have is baled and recycled with ISO14001 accredited supplier attempting to eliminate print and paper waste in landfill.

All other waste is sent for sorting and Recycling.

Digital Toner

Our press operates at lower temperatures and will also be recycled at the end of its life.

We are also part of a recycling scheme , sending back used toner cartridges and parts. That means minimal waste to landfills and maximum re-use of materials.

Our toners are also derived from organic rather than chemical polymers

Our Estate

We are tucked away in the Northamptonshire countryside, on an estate owned by Royalty.  It sounds very glamorous but in real terms it means very little commercially. What it does mean is that the environment is a priority, and being situated next to the 1000 acre farm the health of the landscape is literally critical to their future.

Here are a selection of the larger initiatives taking place on site:

  • 3 Solar Energy farms – reducing Barnwell Estate’s CO2 emissions by over 20 tonnes a year.
  • Rain water Harvesting
  • Stewardship Scheme – Wildlife habitats (Pollen & Nectar planting on headlands)
  • Less than 1% insecticides used
  • Grain is sold to local mills to reduce Haulage
  • Cover crops (Sept – Nov)

We could go on…

Everything else

We haven’t replaced our lighting with LED lights. We believe in use and reuse rather than replace so as our bulbs finish we are converting the existing fittings to LED lights.

We have fitted a much more economical heating system throughout with smarter thermostats and weather sensing tech so they only come on when needed.

We have one kill switch for lighting so when the building is un-occupied, no light can be left on.
