- Include bleed and add crop marks, make sure they do not touch the cut size of the document.
- Supply images at 300 dpi
- Embed your fonts
- Choose "Press Quality" when generating your PDF
- Artwork should be CMYK or greyscale
*Note* We convert all spot (Pantone) colours and RGB to CMYK. Especially PANTONE® colours may look different once printed in. We cannot take responsibility for any difference if artwork is not supplied in CMYK
Please note that there are certain criteria a flyer or leaflet must meet for the product to be zero-rated. There must be a significant amount of text on at least one side of the leaflet to ensure it is being printed as something to be read hand-held, as opposed to posting on a wall. As well as this it must be no larger than A4 and printed on paper no thicker than 230gsm stock.
They may also still be applicable for VAT if they have or can be used for any of the following:
- VAT is chargeable if your print product, e.g. a flyer or leaflet, is used as admission to premises, for example using the words ‘free admission with this leaflet'.
- VAT is chargeable if your print product is used to obtain a discount on goods or services, for example using the words ‘25% off with this flyer'.
- VAT is chargeable if your printed product has an area designed to be written on. For example, invitations, certificates, postcards or forms. To be charged, this area must cover at least 25% of the artwork.
Handouts (Budget/ Throw Away)
A standard flyer is usually 130gsm silk. Using 130gsm in a gloss finish we would usually describe as "like a take away menu". Silk is slightly more toned down on the finish.
Luxury
We would recommend 250gsm silk or uncoated (depending on your personal preference/brand). You could also add a lamination for an extra touch of class.
Postcard
Postcards usually are a6 in size and come in 300gsm uncoated. You could opt for 350gsm uncoated for a slightly more rigid finish
Address Cards
Address cards, like postcards usually are a6 in size and come in 350gsm uncoated.
Forms
A form would usually be printed on a 100gsm uncoated (like a letterhead). Please note the VAT implications of these too.
