How durable is perfect binding?
Very. PUR glue is the strongest, it will bind almost anything. However we use EVA glue (said to be 99% the strength of PUR). EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) glue is cleaner, safer, and more recyclable than PUR. It doesn’t contain isocyanates (a chemical used in PUR that’s harder on the environment and on people working with it), and it bonds at lower temperatures, so it uses less energy to run.Books bound with EVA can also be reheated and recycled, while PUR is permanent and can’t be separated once cured. For most short and medium-run jobs, EVA gives the same strong hold without the environmental baggage.
